🍎🍯 Shanah Tovah – Sweet New Year Last night I joined the ACT Jewish Community to mark Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. May the tradition of apples dipped in honey bring sweetness into our lives, even as we reflect on a difficult past 12 months. It is hard to celebrate when so many families continue to grieve, and when 48 hostages remain in captivity. We hope and pray for their safe release. It was moving to see allies from across the political spectrum come together in solidarity, to reflect and to celebrate. I want to thank Ambassador Amir Maimon for the invitation, and acknowledge the powerful words we heard from Michal Cotler-Wunsh, Israel’s Special Envoy for Combatting Antisemitism. Wishing the Jewish community here in Australia, in Israel and around the world a happy, hopeful and sweet new year. ✡️
