“The ACCC will not oppose Insurance Australia Group Ltd's A$855 million acquisition of rival insurer RACQ, citing sufficient competition remaining in the home, contents, and motor insurance markets. The regulator noted RACQ had not been a strong competitor since 2019 and did not significantly differ on price or coverage. “We’re excited by the opportunity to partner with RACQ to provide our leading insurance products, services and support to RACQ members, partners and people across Queensland,” IAG Managing Director and CEO Nick Hawkins said.” ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Yet again I recently received a greater than 10% increase in my house insurance. How many others regularly cop insurance bill increases greater than 10%? The idea that there is sufficient competition amongst insurance providers in Australia is a joke. The ACCC is nothing but a useless rubber stamp that bends the knee to the big end of town. It’s why People First will continue to advocate for a National Government Insurance Office to provide real competition against the Insurance Oligopoly in this country.
