This year marks the 50th year of National NAIDOC Week - a week which celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year's theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy", celebrates not only the past achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, but also the bright future ahead.
This morning at Sunvale Community Park, Brimbank City Council hosted a NAIDOC week flag raising ceremony. This event featured the launch of the newly restored 'Five Elements' artwork by Aunty Lee-Anne Clarke, Aunty Mandi Barton, and Dr. Helen Bodycomb, as well as an opportunity to see Tahlia Palmer’s ‘Occupation Studies: Agriculture’ exhibition.
Thank you to Uncle Shane Charles for your Welcome to Country and thoughtful words, and to Brimbank Council for organising this vibrant celebration.
