** BREAST CANCER NETWORK AUSTRALIA **
I only made it to one game at the MCG this year, but I reckon life was smiling on me when I was asked to represent the Opposition at the Pink Lady Day at the MCG with the nail biter match between Melbourne and Footscray today.
The BCNA family were present in force, led by the remarkable Kirsten Pilatti, CEO and Kathryn Fagg AC – Chair, together with founder Lyn Swinburne AO, and supported by their key sponsors, Bakers Delight and Red Energy, I joined a room of breast cancer survivors, their families and supporters, gathered for a wonderful afternoon of stories of courage and kindness.
It was a good opportunity to tell everyone about the huge success of local pink day events I had attended at Somerville Junior Football Club, Sorrento Football Netball Club, and Crib Point Football & Netball Club, and the brilliant work being done by Heather and Megan at Breast Foot Forward at the Bays Comprehensive Cancer Centre - all inspired by the success of the Breast Cancer Network Australia; but also to call on the Federal Government to do more in terms of screening, early intervention and prevention.
Thank you for including me, on behalf of the Opposition, at this important event.
