After five Labor Budgets, Australian families are paying more, working harder and falling behind.
This Budget confirms Australians are facing higher taxes, more debt, higher inflation and fewer homes, with no clear plan to restore living standards or ease the pressure on households.
📊 HIGHER TAXES
Labor is now presiding over the highest taxing government in Australia’s history.
This Budget locks in around $50 billion in higher taxes, including $15 billion in higher personal income taxes. At a time when families are already stretched, Australians are being asked to pay more while getting less in return.
💵 COST OF LIVING PRESSURES
The Budget confirms inflation is expected to remain above the Reserve Bank’s target range, meaning interest rates are likely to stay higher for longer.
Families with a typical mortgage are now estimated to be around $32,000 worse off under Labor, while wages continue to struggle to keep pace with rising costs.
Australians are feeling it every single week, at the supermarket, at the petrol pump and when paying the bills.
📈 MORE DEBT, MORE SPENDING
Despite all the promises, Labor still cannot control spending.
Debt is forecast to reach $1.25 trillion, with interest payments alone expected to cost taxpayers more than $42 billion a year.
That is money that could otherwise be invested into roads, hospitals, services and infrastructure for local communities.
🏡 HOUSING PRESSURE
Labor’s own Budget papers confirm their housing taxes are expected to reduce housing supply and increase rental pressures.
At a time when young Australians are struggling to buy their first home, we should be backing aspiration and increasing supply, not making it harder.
🛣️ IMMIGRATION & INFRASTRUCTURE
Labor has again exceeded its own migration targets, with around 2 million migrants expected across its first two terms in government.
Population growth must be matched with the housing, roads, health services and infrastructure communities need.
🇦🇺 AUSTRALIA NEEDS A BETTER PLAN
Australians deserve a government focused on restoring living standards, rewarding hard work and getting the economy back on track.
