Yesterday I met with the Let Them Be Kids campaign. Brave parents who have lost children to online harm, advocates, and health experts, all united in their mission to make social media safer for our kids. Thanks to the relentless push from this group and the Coalition, we’re under 100 days away from the rollout of the social media ban for under-16s. But the job isn’t done. This is a vital first step, and there is still so much work to do to make sure parents, teachers and kids understand how it will work. As a father and grandfather, I know the fear and uncertainty many parents feel. That’s why clear communication from government is essential. Big Tech will resist, but our priority must remain with Australian families. I’ll keep standing with these families to make sure their children’s legacy drives real change.
