View on Parliament WebsiteMr JIHAD DIB ( Bankstown — Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government, Minister for Emergency Services, and Minister for Youth Justice ) ( 17:00 :55 ): I proudly recognise Councillor Rachelle Harika on her appointment as Deputy Mayor of City of Canterbury Bankstown, a role she takes on for the third time. She has deep community roots and will perform with great dedication and experience. A lifelong Yagoona resident, Councillor Harika was first elected to council in 2017 as a representative for the Bass Hill Ward. Since that time she has been a tireless advocate for ensuring equitable access to council services, securing local investment and driving improvements in infrastructure across the city. Her strong connection to community and her commitment to fairness and inclusion have made her a respected and effective leader. Councillor Harika's leadership is defined by her strong grassroots community engagement. Her work reflects a genuine dedication to making sure every voice is heard and every neighbourhood is supported. As she steps into the deputy mayor role once again, Councillor Harika brings with her a wealth of knowledge, collaborative spirit and heartfelt commitment to strengthening the social fabric of our city. I am sure Rachelle will be good—she will be very good! I congratulate Deputy Mayor Harika. The community stands behind her. We look forward to all she accomplishes in the role.
