1045. Hon Neil Thomsonto theparliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Planning and Lands: I refer to page 51 of DevelopmentWA's annual report that states the government did not achieve its key performance indicator "sufficient developed lots available and/or next stage ready", which applies to industrial estates. (1) Why has the minister failed to progress sufficient industrial land? (2) Can the minister provide a list of the estates in which the minister failed to provide sufficient industrial land? (3) Noting the dire need for the expansion of regional centres such as Newman and Port Hedland, what progress has been made in those centres to develop new industrial land?
Hon Dr Katrina Stratton replied: I thank the member for some notice of the question. I provide the following on behalf of the Minister for Planning and Lands. (1)–(3) WA's strong economy means that demand for industrial land, both strategic and general, remains high. The Cook Labor government has doubled the Strategic Industries Fund to $1 billion and is investing a further $414 million through DevelopmentWA's Industrial Lands Authority to continue to unlock industrial land.
