Oscar Cleary

Mr PHILIP DONATO ( Orange )—Mr Speaker, I would like to congratulate Cargo's Oscar Cleary on maintaining his place in the Australian Schoolboys rugby union side for 2025 for a three-match series beginning in September. A talented flanker or number eight, Oscar gained his initial selection in the 2024 side which toured Fiji. That year, his selection was even more meritorious considering it was from the NSW Seconds side. Fiji will again feature in Oscar's 2025 representation, with two matches against that nation's Schoolboys scheduled, to be preceded by a match against the Australian Under 18s. All three games will be played at Viking Park in Canberra in September and October. It's also of interest that Oscar is a talented rower and was a member of the Kinross Wolaroi coxed quad scull team which set an Australian record in February 2024. Described as having amazing drive and a fantastic training ethic by his current coaches as well as earlier mentors at Canowindra Pythons and Orange Emus, Oscar has built a reputation as a player of the future. Mr Speaker, I look forward to watching Oscar's career progress, perhaps to NSW Waratahs or even Australian Wallabies selection. I wish him every success.
