The Cook Government is backing its commitment to protecting our incredible rivers with a further $600,000 in grant funding now available to community volunteer groups through the latest round of the Community Rivercare Program.
Grants ranging from $3,000 to $100,000 are available for projects of up to two years that enhance habitat for native fauna, improve foreshore condition and water quality, and help prevent erosion along waterways in the Swan Canning catchment.
This work reflects the Cook Government’s priority of protecting the Swan and Canning Rivers and supports one of Western Australia’s most treasured natural assets while strengthening the long-term health and resilience of our river system.
Full grant guidelines and eligibility details are available via the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions website.
Applications close 4pm on Friday, 6 February 2026.
This latest funding boost builds on the program’s previous round, with nearly $120,000 awarded to eight projects under the unique North Subregion Round 2, which closed in June 2025.
