My childhood was safe, loving and caring and I thought that’s how everyone lived, until I heard Melanie’s story last night. She was raised by loving parents but at the age of four, someone close to the family sexually abused her and it continued for six years. It wasn’t until she was 24 years old that she found the strength to tell someone. What a brave woman you are Melanie! She has written and illustrated a book called ‘Little Lionheart’ which is a tool for families to use to build resilience, strength and healing. It’s Melbourne Cup Day 🏇 and I backed an absolute winner! Meryl turned 100! Happy Birthday Meryl 🎂 and we both were able to watch the race together. One of 8 children, Meryl’s Dad died when she was just 13 and her Mum raised the family on her own. Meryl worked as a shorthand typist with the Tax office and her brother, Keith, joined the Navy and served on HMAS Australia. He lived to be 101 years old.
