Mark was born in 1968 in the Gold Coast.

Following his schooling, Mark completed a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History, at the University of Queensland, as well as a graduate Diploma of Teaching, also at the University of Queensland. He subsequently began work as a high school teacher, teaching in history and drama. Mark is also a former environmental and anti-nuclear campaigner who has advocated on matters concerning climate change, renewable energy targets, and electric vehicles.

All Queensland Ambulance Service staff know exactly what happened when the new IT program was launched a few weeks ago and it was debacle. I’ll always stand up in Parliament for patients, our paramedics, our operations centre staff and ED health staff. Thanks to all QAS staff who came in at short notice to help manually process 000 calls after multiple IT failures 👍😊👏👏👏
