This weekend is the Buddha Birth Day Festival hosted by FGS Chung Tian Temple located at 1034 Underwood Road Priestdale. The theme of this year’s festival is harmony and peace. Over the course of the weekend, there will be thousands of families in attendance. Thank you to Venerable Abbess Manwang and President Michelle Lo of Buddha’s Light International Association of Queensland for hosting the welcome ceremony this morning. As part of the ceremony, BLIAQ Loving Care Group made donations to each of: The Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust, the City of Logan Charitable Trust, the Mater Hospital Foundation, the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital Foundation, Rosies – Friends on the Street and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Veterans Affairs

Following the commemoration this morning, a further commemoration was held in Freedom Place Inala to remember and reflect on the Fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. Notwithstanding the rain, there was strong attendance from our wonderful Vietnamese Queensland community, veterans (Australian and Republic of Vietnam) and community representatives. Thank you to President of the Vietnamese Community in Australia - Queensland Chapter, Ms Kieu Oanh Do, and all of the volunteers for hosting such a moving event.

Nothing says Australia Day like a Football Game in the scorching heat! On Sunday Afternoon, I tagged along to watch The Burundi Stars at the Bethania Football Club. They took on another team from New Zealand!! Last time the Burundi Stars travelled to New Zealand and took on the Kiwis, they won the match! Today, I celebrated my first citizenship ceremony with the Lions Club of Inala at The Blue Fin Fishing Club.
